Isabelle’s very being revolves around our 4-legged friends, from a very young age having a deep passion for horses. Isabelle first sat only a pony at the tender age of 2, her first memory of riding being Scottie, at Deepleigh Riding Centre in Somerset. Isabelle truly believed the staff who told her that this 12 hand Dartmoor pony was in fact a racehorse! Throughout her teens Isabelle owned and competed her first ponies, Christie and then Ivory, in all disciplines, sometimes more successfully than others! While other school mates got Saturday jobs in Waitrose, Isabelle worked with Arabian racing stallions, having the great privilege of riding these graceful and powerful creatures in training and accompanying them to the races. This only fuelled Isabelle’s desire to find herself a niche within the animal-world from which to start her career. However, Isabelle’s real calling came when, following a crashing fall from Dr. Doolittle in a cross-country lesson at Patchetts Equestrian Centre, a Chiropractor was able to put her back together where other medical professionals could find no apparent reason for the pain. Some years later, Ivory fell and suffered multiple complete fractures of her withers but once again, thanks to a local Chiropractor she was back showjumping only 8 months following what was deemed a career ending injury.
In 2002 Isabelle began training as a Doctor of Chiropractic, in those days it was a 5 year course resulting in a Bsc. Honours Degree, and graduated in January 2008. Concurrently, in 2003 Isabelle travelled to California to train in Equine Sports Massage, which has proved an invaluable adjunct to the Chiropractic treatment. Post-graduation, Isabelle then went on to train as Veterinary Chiropractor, with the world’s number one school for Animal Chiropractic, The International Academy of Veterinary Chiropractic – a course only open to fully qualified Chiropractors and Veterinary Surgeons.
Since then Isabelle has never looked back, splitting her time between practicing from her clinic in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire and treating horses and dogs over a wide part of the south east of England. Over these years Isabelle has been fortunate to build solid relationships with many of the vet practices covering the same areas, being able to pick up the phone to many of the vets, vets often picking up the phone too, to discuss mutual client horses.
Meanwhile, Isabelle has spent most of her free time with her horses, having had the ultimate of impulse purchases at the Brightwell Sales in 2009, when she went home with a beautiful racehorse who had only run a few days prior. Honey went on to compete in all disciplines with a primary focus on dressage, also being graded onto the main Hannoverian studbook and producing a fantastic colt foal, Bolly. Isabelle was also lucky enough during Honey’s pregnancy to ride and compete a Spaniard called Sparky, taking him up the levels to compete at PSG.
Nowadays, when not working Isabelle is kept busy with training and competing her two warmblood stallions, Bolly and Nico, pampering her mini-shetland stallion, Cooper and having long walks and the odd training session too with her dogs, Labrador, Marvin and Jack Russell Terriorist, Stella!
